Just received 500 rounds of Q3131 from Bass Pro Shops.   I linked to it from the daily ammo price thread here.  Funny because if you search Bass Pro's site, you can't find this stuff.  It isn't even listed.  OK...just 500 rounds...I am a "piker".  I have several other cases of 5.56mm for practice.  Was going to save them for emergency use, but they are all marked as WCC 90 with the NATO cross.  I figured coming from Bass Pro it would be a more recent vintage.   The ammo looks just like the 80's Q3131 I bought almost 20 years ago.  The boxes are perfect and don't look as though they have been setting on a shelf for 15 years.

Weren't there supposed to be some problems with late 80's manufacture...or was that late 90's manufacture?  Have I screwed up here guys...on spendy Q3131 dated 1990?  Any thoughts?

That's weird I just bought some from there and it is all stamped '05

I’ve got some q3131 stored from the early 90s it’s fine ammo. The stuff with problems was from ‘99 I believe. You should be good.

dvo maybe look a little closer at the ammo.  I have ordered 3000 rounds from bass pro and the last 2000 have all been 05 (last shipment came in Wed of last week) the first 1000 was a mix of 04 and 05.  Anyway the 5 really looks like a 9, the most recent lot that I got was WN90.  The print on the end of the box (5.56) for the last 2000 is much smaller then the first 1000 I got.  Don't take this post wrong maybe it is 90 but it just seems strange because they havent stocked this in recent times but I suppose it is always possible the shipment they got in had some older stuff in it.  What is your lot number?  I will look through the other boxes and see if I have any other lots numbers or maybe 90 stuff.  Is the print on the and of the Box small or large?

Nice pics I want more ammo now!  From my experience the top picture is the larger font and that is a mix of 04 and 05 just like your picture shows.  The newer lots come in a much smaller font in the box and is all 05.

Is it possible that they are stocking it up for an upcoming sale????

Purchased 1-22-06.  One box had a mix of 04-05 and the other was mostly 05.

The Q3131 I got from Bass Pro is 04 an 05 headstamped.  

Duh!  Not only am I a dolt...I'm an old dolt that needs reading glasses.  Looked at upside down, the 05 or 06 headstamps look like 90.  Further, the lot number was W_90, so I just assumed that it was from 1990.  Thanks guys.  I better check out the little magnifying reading glasses at the drug store.
