So I'm at wally world (wal mart) and they have some Winchester 223 55 grain ammo on the shelf. First I asked the clerk how much of it they have. He opens up the glass and states; it goes all the way back, so exactly how much do you want? When I said all of it, he tilted his head down so that he could look above his glasses at me with a concerned expression on his face. I just smiled and said, what is there a company policy against that?
400 rounds later, I continue on my way to the grocery section. |
He probably was checking you out cause you where a man after his own heart
I often buy that much at Wal-Mart... I've had a few of them ask "you sure you want all of it?"... My answer -- "Yep, I can easily go through that much in an afternoon"... No questions after that. |
400 rounds isn't worth stopping for.
Reason #456 why I don't shop at Wally World |
I went to Walmart today, somone I know works there, they want to buy some stuff from me
Bought 6 boxes of VP and the guy asked "Are you mad a somebody?"
Got a strange look one time when I bought several boxes and a copy of Full Metal Jacket at the same time. |
I was wishing for at least 1000, but they only had the 400. Careful, one day Wally will be the only place to find a job. That's if you don't get shipped to china |
I always get strange looks at my Ball-Mart. I had 20 cans of crisco in my cart. I asked them what they were looking at. One lady went into shock. Another just said.....daaaaaaaaamn!
I had to have some way to cook fish for 60 friends and family |
So what is the price on the Wal-Mart Winchester White Box ammo? They're pretty reasonable on plinking ammo, but like you noted, they never seem to have enough in stock.
My experience was pretty good.
"How many boxes do you have back there?" "I've got 13 boxes." "I'll take them all." "I've got 30 more boxes in the back. Won't be a problem if you want me to go and get them for you?" "I'll take 'em!" |
If I go to get blasting ammo I ask wallyworld if they can order cases for me they say no problem.
You should ask if they can just order some cases for you ad then pick up what you want. |
A couple months ago, I bought 28 boxes and they called security
You should have started screaming when they showed up |

The Buy-cot probably didn't even register because it was so close to hunting season
What's wally world getting for 5.56 anyhow? Is it cheaper than mail order?
Weird looks from the sporting goods clerk at my Wal-Mart is the norm...
I bought 300 round of 45 acp. The clerk asked me if I was going to start a war.
I shit you not. |
Do they sell 5.56mm? |
WAL MARTs in CT have their own policies of limiting a buyer to 99 boxes of anything. The policy is supposed to reflect not selling out the entire stock to one person (often a dealer who will just buy it to resell it at a mark up) and to ensure that there will be ammo for more than one customer who asks for it.
Doesnt everybody sell q3131? |
Not my WM - mostly the Winchester USA223R1 and USA223R1VP. I've never seen 5.56mm for sale there, just .223 Remington.
I would of replied.... " yes sir, there's an enemy battalion of NVA paper plates at the range, and I gotta hold em off" What an idiot. |
I've never seen any 5.56mm at a Wal-Mart, only the .223 stuff. Not bad, but not what I want most of the time. And none of the stores around me has EVER had more than half a dozen boxes on display, usually only one or two. The one time I asked, that was ALL they had in the whole store. I have better luck at Academy lately, now that they have Q3131 again.
My last purchase at Wal-Mart was 1200 rounds of white box .45 (all they had) The clerk did not even bat an eye.
I've had the best luck and most professional service from women when I've purchased appropriate quantities of ammunition at Wal*Mart. I've had the worst luck and most un-professional excuse for service (i.e. harassment) from older men.
Usually they dont bat an eye with me and I have purchased 300rds 9mm before. One saw my CCW license and began asking how to go about getting one, that brought a smile to my face.
I've been paying $7.73 for a 40 round "Value Pack" of 55gr FMJ. The 45gr Varmint ammo is over $13 for a 40rd box. |
What was their reason for doing that? Unless you are in some crazy blue state with some kind of funky law I can't see any justification for it. |
Not lately. They have .223 Rem nowdays. A while back the 20rd WWB they had that was marked "Made in USA" was WCC headstamped 5.56x45mm NATO cases. I haven't seen any of that on the shelves anywhere in a while. |
$5 says you still shop there. |
They don't even bat an eye when I buy all the 9mm they have.
I've bought 3000 rounds of 115gr WWB VP at one time. All I was asked was if I needed help getting it out to the car. But I go there every week and buy atleast 500 rds. |
When I walk up to the sporting goods counter, they grab all the boxes of 223 ammo they have for me. I don't even have to ask, thye know why i'm there.
suh-weet! |
I bought all the boxes the local Wal-Mart had of these. Asked the guy if they had a limited and he said "I don't care how many you buy. It is just limited by how much money you have." I told him to give me every box they had. Cleaned them out! Then went and shot 260 of the 400 rounds. Good stuff for plicking. 20 |
I bought 18 boxes yesterday, 720 rounds and got asked the same thing. I just said, not today and walked out. |
An old man(another customer) at wal-mart made a comment that i must miss alot because i bought 20 of thier 40rd packs. I just laughed it up and told him "you will never know". He asked what i meant by that and i told him to take it for what its worth. |
I have to disagree. I have seen a much better stocking of 100rd 9mm, and the 40rd .223, both white box Winchester. |
You should have opened one of the boxes and started to throw rounds at them while running thru the store......on the next pass by sporting goods counter yell "reload!!!!!!" and grab another box and keep running..... |
... or whip out your carbine from under your long pleather "Matrix" coat and start loading magazines from the boxes as they scan them.
Which Wal Mart (location in MD)? Mine is teh ghey about ammo - no one is ever at the counter. |
I just go to one of the other counters and ask them to page someone to the sporting goods desk for me if there is nobody around. |
The walmart clerk looked at you wierd? Get over yourself......it's a walmart clerk for shits sake. Big deal. |
Ha...the Wally world by me doesn't even sell ammo. When I happen to visit one that does, I pick some ammo up.
Last time I bought 150 slugs at the same time. I told the lady what I wanted and she asked how many boxes I wanted. I asked how many she had, then stopped myself and said, "I'll take it all." She didn't bat an eye either. I took my 10 boxes of slugs and was on my way. |
I usually go to the one in Hunt Valley. They normally have a pretty good amount of 9mm in stock. They aren't as well stocked in 40 & 45. I usually have to go find someone to get the ammo out as well. There is never anyone in that section. |
I bought 5 .223 VP's today ... and 2 boxes of 40 S&W VP's .... this was the first time I was asked if this was handgun ammo?!
Ours sells the of Remminton 250 packs of 9MM, 40S&W, and 45ACP.
So the 40 round WWB of the .223 is good stuff? |
Good enough for me, i'll post some pics of the group i shot with it in a few minutes. |
