Any real difference between the 75 grain TAP round that is all the rage and the 77 loading from Black Hills? I have the blackhills stuff and I will keep using it but if there is someting better that is acctualy better (the specs on both look the same) then I will switch

I know the two grains ;)
but I honstly dont think there is a difference and if there is I owuld like someone to tell me.

Sorry if this comes across as a little sarcastic, it's supposed to.

I'm still waiting for the range report from the guy that has been hit by both rounds to say which one hurt the most.

Everthing else is just paper!

Actually the 75 grain bullet used to be longer than the 77 thus less likely to stabilise from a 1/9 and they shortened it a couple years ago. 75 still has the shorter neck which makes it the better choice for terminal ballistics. All Black Hills 75 is cannelured but I dont think all their 77 is. At least it was ot all cannelured when I bought my las batch of Blue Box 75 so watch for that if that is important to you. 77 is generally a bit more accurate in the majority of rifles but 75 is more accurate in a small minority of rifles.

You bring up an interesting point... Black Hills cannelured ammo.

I took a close look at some of my MK262 Mod1 blems (Cabela's) today... Although there is a cannelure on the 77g. bullet it DOES NOT appear to be CRIMPED at the neck to grab a hold of that cannelure.

I thought Black Hills MK262 blems had both crimped primers AND crimped neck?

For those who have the BH 75g. OTM's with a CANNELURE, does your neck appear crimped to take full advantage of that serration?

If the MK262 IS crimped, it sure looks to be a LIGHT crimp...

Is SierraEight available for comment?

Also, I think the .223 loading of the Black Hills 77 grain (not Mk262) is NOT cannalured from pictures posted 3-4 months ago.

It has a light cannelure, and thus a light crimp is required to avoid deforming the bullet and degrading accuracy. We use a crimp sufficient to do what's needed, and stop there. Jeff
