No. I don't have the box right here, but I think it just says Black Hills 5.56 mm77 Grain MKHP.
Whatever the exact language, it does NOT say Mk 262 Mod 1, or anything like that. |
That's what the boxes say for 50 rds when I shot down with AMU at Benning. The Mk 262 Mod 0 that I have here are in 20 rd brown cardboard boxes. Don't know about Cablea's.

I'm sure it is the real deal. Cool for you if you got ahold of some. If you don't mine my asking, where did you come across it? |

Here ya go.

Thats where I got the picture. I just wanted to make sure it was real before I paid $38 a box. |
where is it listed on Cabela’s web page? Could not fined it
What,s the Vel. / Energy of the MK 262 MOD1 ammo |
I have chronographed it at ~2830 fps through a suppressed SPR and 2870 fps in a 20-incher. |
It is listed as: 5.56mm, 77 Grain MKCL for $27.99 Under the Black Hills ammo listings |
So, has anyone ordered from Gizmo's yet? I'm very interested in a few hundred rounds of this but I'd like to know it's a good dealer before I put in an order.
i justed ordered 4 boxes, I'll post here and let you know how it goes
I'm interested in doing a comparison between the factory seconds and the "real" stuff. If anyone has done such a comparison please let us know your results.
Does any one have a picture of the packaging for Mk262 that Cabela's sales?
I still cannot believe that none of the usual companies will stock any real (non-seconds) Mk262 Mod 1. It's less than $6000 for 10,000 rds. Chump change for any decent sized company. In my earlier days, I would have bought a 10K lot on my own. There seems to be plenty of people who want it. Even at the high price, some people are willing to pay for the best. |
I will use the grade AAA stuff in my SPR clone (better made than the issue units).
I wil use the cosmetics in my Recce (much better made than an M-4) This is for deployment purposes only. For practice when I'm hanging out in Idaho, the worlds most beatiful place since Californians moved to California and then to Colorado I will load my own to duplicate the above. There are guys at my home ranges that don't get around much (they don't want the black helicopters to spot them). When I come back home I'll sell some 50 round packs for $50.00 a crack; "Psst. Gerge, don't look around and don't be obvious;and for God's sake don't ask me where I got this (wink, wink), but this is that stuff we were drilling haji's with at 700 meters." "They load this so hot because it's more accurate that way." "We don't want the bad guys to get any because it's hot enough to shoot down helicopters." etc. etc. |
Won't happen, all the non seconds stuff goes straight to the military. |
Not true. For a minimum 10K or 25K order, BH will make a run for you. This is what GPSS did the first time around, and failed to do the second time (they couldn't get enough orders to make the minimum which dropped from 25K to 10K). First time buyers might be required to order 25K initially. I missed out on the first batch unfortunately, had a case and a half on order. These are first run. |

I'm going to repeat this one more time, and only because Sierraeight posted it before(and mind you I'm paraphrasing it a bit), all Mk262 Mod1 ammo that passes QC goes to the military. The only thing sold on the commercial market is seconds. Now if Jeff comes in here and says otherwise I'll believe it but untill then I'm inclined to go by what the OWNER of the company said right here on this board on more than one occasion. The GPSS laod was with the 77gt nosler bullet too not the 77gr SMK. |

I have 3 boxes of Cabela's ammo and the boxes are marked "Seconds". I'll check the other markings and maybe post a photo of the box cover tonight when I get home.
I sent a copy of the picture that is posted on this tread to a US Navy Gunners Mate that I served with and he said that that’s what the boxes of Mk262 MOD1 that he has in the armory look like.
I stand corrected, my post was misguiding.
The load GPSS sold was equivalent to MK262 Mod 1 as far as I am concerned, though it's not the military ammo. It's loaded as hot, and has the cannelured bullet. I thought I remember the primer and mouth being sealed but I'm not sure anymore. I would rather have that GPSS ammo than the seconds. If someone/some company ordered the bulk order from Blackhills, you can have it EXACTLY match the military issue as it's just a custom run. There would be virtually no difference except for the markings on the box. |
Group buy anyone?? |
I take it you haven't seen the factory seconds yet? You would be hard pressed to tell they are seconds. |
Does anyone have chronograph results for an 18" barrel?
Thanks, -JD |
The 262 Mod 1 ammo I got from Cabelas says, 5.56MM, 77 gr match HP. It says factory seconds on the side of the box also. It doesn't mention Mod 1 or 262 anywhere on the box.
Does anyone have a link on the Cabelas site for the 262 mod 1 ammo?
It won't because thanks to Billyboyclinton, we can't buy "surplus" ammo anymore. If it had Mk262 Mod1 on it anywhere we legaly could not have it. |
Again, ~2830 in 18" w/suppressor. |

Quoted:
Gizmo's Gun MK 262 Ammo - Link is Dead It's dead because I think they sold out of the ammo. I bought several boxes. |
So did I. |
I was in a shop yesterday. In the ammo section he had one 20 round box that was marked like posted here, with the exception that it was a 20 round box not 50. It was not marked as being seconds. It was priced at $3.99, like all the other .223, 5.56 ammo.
Did you ask if/when they will be getting more? |
Exactly - I meant I didnt figure they would have much. Kinda surprised at the interest this stuff generates. At $760 per case, I'd like to see if its significantly different than the "seconds", if these are indeed anything but. If I can get $50 a box like LawnDart poses, I got 3 cases up for grabs. 20rd boxes??? Thats not right, it should be in 50rd boxes. |
