Quoted: I have a couple cases of 75gr Hornady TAP that isn't cannelured, and setback has been a problem. My 223 doesn't look annealed either, although the 308 is. Obviously if current TAP is cannelured then I must have an earlier version. Does anyone know when Hornady started putting a cannelure on their 75gr TAP?
It's a little disconcerting since I paid an ultra premium price for this-particularly for the 308.

Whooo.. that is old. It's even still using the old version of the Hornady 75gr BTHP bullet. Not sure exactly when they put the cannelure on.. it's been quite awhile. I've never seen 75gr TAP with an annealed case.. always polished. And that goes for the old TAP case rims marked "Frontier" and the new ones which, if I remember correctly, are now marked "Hornady".
I too have seen the Hornady 75gr TAP 25-round boxes. I believe they are just the older packaging (they come in boxes of 20 now) NOT the NATO version as the velocity markings on the box are still the same. Never choroned the 25 round boxes though.
Everyone needs to complain to BH about bullet setback so they'll start putting cannelures on the BH 75gr Red Box.
BH 75gr Red Box generally runs a little hotter than TAP but no cannelure.
Most testing I've seen shows a cannelure doesn't hurt accuracy, it just changes the POI. And anyone who complains can just be pointed in the direction of the Sierra 77gr loadings.
