Very commonly brought up in discussions, but I can't find anywhere online to buy it.  Anyone know a website?

The 75 TAP I get @ local shop comes in a box of 25. What the difference between the two types? Anybody know? -Justin

Thats not NATO, so it won't work as well on flesh.

I didn't realize that there were two types of the 75gr TAP. Being a NATO load, would that one be waterproof?

You can order it from Natchez Shooter's Supply.  I just got 200 rounds from there.

I don't know. It's NATO pressure, as opposed to SAAMI, so thats why its called NATO.

It still works PLENTY well enough.  A+ rating in my book.

Good luck finding the NATO load.  If you hold your breath looking for it, can you put me in your will for your guns?

Have B&T labs tested this commercial loading? I though you only tested some NATO loadings.

Is there a set back issue with this ammo?

Not true.

It works EXACTLY the same, the NATO load however can fragment a bit further out.  Not a concern for a civilian.

Yes if you find the right stores.

You can also buy effectively the same thing from Black Hills - it's their 75gr Heavy Match.

Black Hills is not cannelured (sometimes but none I have seen) and the TAP is cannelured therefore setback is not an issue for the TAP but can possibly be with Black Hills.  Buy Black Hills blue box for reloaded 75 grain non cannelured practice to save money and load your ready mags with TAP.  As already stated there is not commercially available NATO Pressure 75 or 77 grain ammo out there and the 75 grain SAAMI ammo will still fragment out to 100 yards with a 14.5" barrel.  Buy the 75 grain TAP as you can find it easily enough and get less expensive versions like the BH to practice with annd have same POI.  Dont concernyourself with NATO pressure unles you regularly shoot people at over 100 yards.  SAAMI pressure also means faster follow up shots due to less recoil and less muzzle flash.  Just click the little link I made as the first response to this thread and buy away.

I have a couple cases of 75gr Hornady TAP that isn't cannelured, and setback has been a problem. My 223 doesn't look annealed either, although the 308 is. Obviously if current TAP is cannelured then I must have an earlier version. Does anyone know when Hornady started putting a cannelure on their 75gr TAP?

It's a little disconcerting since I paid an ultra premium price for this-particularly for the 308.

Live and learn I guess

Whooo.. that is old.  It's even still using the old version of the Hornady 75gr BTHP bullet.  Not sure exactly when they put the cannelure on.. it's been quite awhile.  I've never seen 75gr TAP with an annealed case.. always polished.  And that goes for the old TAP case rims marked "Frontier"  and the new ones which, if I remember correctly, are now marked "Hornady".

I too have seen the Hornady 75gr TAP 25-round boxes.  I believe they are just the older packaging (they come in boxes of 20 now) NOT the NATO version as the velocity markings on the box are still the same.  Never choroned the 25 round boxes though.

Everyone needs to complain to BH about bullet setback so they'll start putting cannelures on the BH 75gr Red Box.  BH 75gr Red Box generally runs a little hotter than TAP but no cannelure.

Most testing I've seen shows a cannelure doesn't hurt accuracy, it just changes the POI.  And anyone who complains can just be pointed in the direction of the Sierra 77gr loadings.

The 75gr nosler load from BH is a military load, at NATO spec, and has a shorter-necked, cannalured bullet

Not only that but I ordered the 77 grain ammo before the Summer and still have no ammo nor refund and I asked for an ETA of the refund Tommy prommised me from the last thread this got brought up I have no answer about that either.

So lets put this to rest...there is no 77 grain Nosler MK 262 ammo for you to buy.

I bought some Black Hills Blue Box 75 grain ammo, and pulled one of them apart.  The crimp is so tight it puts a ring in the bullet.  I don't think setback would be much, if any, issue at all with this load.  I posted pics of the "guts" here:

Didn't know why this didn't occur to me before..

I wonder what it would take for BH to do a run of Red Box 75gr with a cannelure?
