Winchester 64 gr. powerpoint. Yes, SS-109 is better than Hornady TAP for penetrating glass.

Does it make a difference on the Winchester Power points? I see they are available as Super X 64gr. power points and as Ranger 64gr. power points. Are these the same bullet? |

I believe that the 75gr TAP was one of the few rounds that passed the FBI's tests which included glass/barrier penetration and still penetrating 12" of ballistic gelatin.
Does anyone know what the DEA/FBI are using as far as 5.56 ammo goes? |

The 165gr TBBC, and you're thinking of penetration through certain THICK bus windows. I can't find my notes, but I'm pretty sure the 55gr TBBC will meet FBI requirements after glass. For A-9000: Like the other OTM bullets, the 75gr TAP fails miserably against glass. |

So what would be the max distance that you would still get .5" or so of expansion from a 16" barrelwith the 62gr bonded federal load?

The FBI is using in their SWAT team 69 gr Federal match in their 16" Colts.
My neighbor has 500 rounds of it in his truck. He is the Tactical commander of the Arizona FBI SWAT team. |

I was looking around for the Trophy Bonded Bear Claw on Federal's LE website... Under "Tactical" they had a set of 55 and 62 gr loads labeled as "Bonded SP"-type bullet with model numbers LE223T1 and LE223T3 respectively. Are these the 55, 62 LE rounds that are Trophy Bonded Bear Claw that were referred to earlier in this thread?

Also note the 55 grain version comes in civilian form for hunting from Federal. 62 grain is an LEO round. The 55 grain has better ballistics due to higher speed. I assume the 62 is for similar POI to military ammo at close range? I cant think of why you would use 62 over the 55... I have never seen a test where thte 62 performed any better... only worse.
