Has anyone tried it?

I was wondering what would happen if an older tracer bullet was fired without the compound.  These are the older black tip bullets I believe, not the newer red.  They are very long and I imagine in the 50 gr. empty range.  Out of a fast twist I was thinking they might behave like a match bullet.

I had some of these several years ago and just loaded them using 55 gr data, shot fine.

Ok my fault I think mine are the red tipped, if that is the older of the two.  I am not interested in making them tracers, but was just wondering how they would shoot empty.  Thanks for the info so far.

I would think they would be ok, but I don't see why they would be any more accurate than any other FMJ load.
