Seems that this is recalled ammo that Speer repackaged for sale to non LEO/Gov't consumers.

You should discontinue use of the subject ammunition due to an intermittent, low frequency occurrence of primer misfires.

Speer Gold Dot 25 Auto, 32 Auto, 380 Auto, 9MM Luger, 9MM Luger +P and 40 S&W ammunition produced between 9/25/01 and 3/31/02 should be returned to the factory for a no charge replacement. Replacement ammunition will incorporate an “A” mark in the primer cup for identification purposes.

Speer Recalls Gold Dot Ammunition
Speer Gold Dot Ammunition -380 Auto, 9mm, 9mm+P, and 40 S&W. An intermittent, low frequency occurrence of primer misfires may occur under certain circumstances in several calibers of Gold Dot ammunition. This only applies to Gold Dot ammunition of the specified calibers produced between 09-25-01 and 03-31-02.
An unauthorized change in manufacturing process was made in late September [2001]. This resulted in primers being used that did not meet specifications. Those primers are mostly used for ammo going to Government Contract shipments. However some of the ammo does go out through distributors to local and state contracts.
Speer Gold Dot 380 Auto, 9mm, 9mm+P, and 40 S&W ammunition produced between 09-25-01 and 03-31-02 should be returned to the factory for a no-charge replacement. Replacement ammunition will incorporate an "A" mark on the primer cup for identification purposes.

You should discontinue use of the subject ammunition and follow the procedure below immediately.

Also the labels will be a part number for specific breeds of ammo. The only Gold Dot parts numbers being recalled are:
53612 9mm 115 gr. +P+
53614 9mm 115 gr.

53730 9mm 124 gr. (US Govt Spec and Sales)

53947 .40 165 gr. (Mostly sold to BATF)

Also an extremely small quantity of .25, .32, and .380 ammo was manufactured with these primers. Presently one lot of .380 boxed in 50 round boxes is being recalled.
To qualify for recall, ammunition must (a) be from one of the recalled lot numbers and (b) have a part number listed above. Ammunition with the indicated lot numbers but a part number other than those listed is not being recalled.

Yep.  The lot numbers for the 9mm and .40 Gold Dot, shown in the photos on Ammoman.com, are in the range of the recalled lots.  

Um the 9mm is not part of that recall look at the lot numbers again for the 124gr stuff ammoman has.

ammomans (at least by the pic) is MxxHxx not MxxGxx. It don't fall into the recalled stuff. at least based on the lot number in that particular pic.

I stand corrected, on both the .40 and the 9mm.  I didn't check the second letter in the code.  

That's good, because that's a good price for good 9mm.  I wish he had some of the .380.

Even though this lot is not in said recall, I believe that the marking indicates there is a problem with using this as duty ammo.

"Duty ammo", as in on-duty LEO, yes.  But my concern would be that it had primers that had a "low frequency occurence" of misfires, as did the stuff in the recall.  The stuff ammoman is selling could have cosmetic blemishes or something; the "Not for Duty Use" tag could simply be to discourage departments from buying this cheaper ammo instead of the cosmetically perfect, more expensive "Duty" ammo.

if you look at ammomans ammo, it really is in these recall lots.  The numbers are indicative of the recalled lots.

I bought the 9mm 124 +p

When shooting it through my ruger p-85, and falaraks g-19, it was apparent that there is some issues with the primers.  We did not have any misfires, but the primer showed signs of bulging w/ my ruger, and a high pressure flattening with the glock.

If anyone is interested, I can post a pic or two, in the next day or so.

BTW, i have no problem using this, 200 rds, not one actual problem, and my 2 9mm's, (ruger and beretta 92) are both tanks that can handle hot loads.

So no problem there.

It's great ammo.  However, you'd have to be a fool to make it your defense load.

I have some of the 40 smith, but I hate just using it for target practice!

Bought this from Ammoman earlier this year and used up 900+ rounds so far in Glock 19 & 34 and have no problems.

I ordered have ordered 2000 rounds of this stuff from other vendors.  I have shoot 2 of the 250 round boxes with only one problem.  One of the 250 round boxes only had 200 rounds in it.  I contacted www.outdoormarksman.com and they sent me about 70 more rounds, plus a free hat.  Great shooting ammo and a great seller.

I bought 500 rounds of the .380 for my wife's Gov't model.  We've shot 200 rounds so far without a problem but we only use it as range ammo, just to be on the safe side.
