How do you open the freaking crate without destroying it?? Do I unscrew the 2 x 4? Do I cut the wires? What do I do? Sorry, a newbie question.

I just twisted the little metal tab on the wire until it broke and unscrewed the screws in the lid... although the crate was crappy enough I wouldn't mind terribly if it was destroyed

From a second story balcony, carefully lean over approx. 1-2-feet, let go of crate so that it lands on upper right hand corner at a 45 decree angle.  Or use a screw driver and take off the top screws and clip the lead wires.

I picked up my last case at AIM surplus $140 shipped, 1000 rounds in battle packs. Well worth it.

Yep, that's where I got my ammo. Got it in seven days. You can't beat $.14 a round.

no, you can't... I don't think. Either way, I'm pleased with it. I only wish I had enough cash for another crate

I'm not talking about shooting matches with it, but how accurate is it??

That I couldn't tell you since I'm still in the tedious break-in stage with my shiny new DSA SA58. I've heard good things about it on other boards (most notably the falfiles) and it appears to be one of the favorites as far as military surplus ammo goes (though usually Hirtenberger is perferred but also more pricey).
I only wish it had come in a resealable ammo can but oh well, those can be had cheap enough. The battle packs are nice, though. Filled with individually boxed (20 rounds per box) rounds. This makes filling the mags convenient, too (was that 18 or 19 rounds?)
