Trying to install a Forward Controls Designs Extended Serrated Mag Release on my kids Smith and Wesson M&P 15-22.

It doesn't seem to work, like extended part hits the receiver.  It seems like I could cut away at the plastic a little bit to make it work.

Has anybody had any luck with these?

I'm installing it because my kid shoots left handed.
