Those are 9mm 1/2x28 (not 1/2x36)? Whatever is short, fat and stubby. I am an idiot and ordered the wrong thread adapter for my suppressor so now I am stuck with a lame adapter so I can use the suppressor. It is going to look   An A1 doesn't look horrible....

Wait, what the hell is this one? Are you able to make a 1/2x36 threaded (for the barrel) to a 1/2x28 (for the suppressor)? How would that even work? It wouldn't fit inside.

If you don't figure this out another way, I can sell you a 1/2-28 A2 flash hider that's opened up to clear 9mm bullets for $10.

A four prong flash hider would run about $50-$60. Threaded in 1/2X28, 1/2X32, or 1/2X36. I personally like 1/2X28. I think Colt made 1/2X36 for their 9mm so nobody would slap on a .223 flash hider and accidentally try to fire a 9mm through it.

EDT150 (semi-hardened about 32c on the Rockwell Scale, 120,000 PSI)

So no heat treatment post machining? ETD150 Specs ETD150 is specifically chosen for it's machinibility and dimensional stability during heat treat. <talk like a pirate> Make 'em HARD! </talk like a pirate> |

I spoke to a close friend who is a machinist for most of his life about making flash hiders. His suggestion was to use EDT150. It stress relieved and semi-hardened already.
I asked about heat treatment and his opinion was the metal could be heat treated but the deisgn of the flash hider was more important (bore clearance, length of flutes, width of the flutes). Heat treatment would slow down the erosion process since muzzle blast is abrasive. I made a flash hider for the HK91/G3 a few years ago and the hider has held up very well. |
