I've seen a few PICs that look like they have .625" barrels.  
Is that the slimmest I should [dare] tell the machinist to turn my barrel?

Uzi barrels are .625 at the front (barrel nut forward. Rest of barrel is .675". I would consider .625 a minimum.

Does anyone have a lightweight Colt barrel they could measure for me?  I need to know the diameter for the front sight base journal.

I measure 0.625" at the front sight on a Colt 10.5" barrel.
