If i get an RRA and cut the barrel down to 10 1/2" or 11 1/2" would it effect the cycling of the weapon. will you have to enlarge the gas port to compensate for the shorter barrel or anything at all like that????im just asking because ive never seen anything mentioned about this b4.
Thanks for the help,
Jeremy

The 9mm uses blowback operation and doesn't use the gas port.

excellent, thanks alot thats precisely what i needed to know. actually i forgot to ask if it was blowback. I should have figured that one out on my own by looking at the bolt.
Thanks alot.

Works great.  I cut down an ASA barrel.  Much better now.

Jeremy
BTW, what kind of upper was it?

45yd spinning target no problem. Target is 4" x 4".  RRA Upper was 16" not it's 6". Colt 11 1/2 is fun but the 6" is awesome!!

Here's the 6" upper with thread adapter and my UZI Coastal can. Thread adapter has been black anodized since the pic.

That looks like more fun then a man can handle!  Did you have any function problems when you went that short?  Did it affect your rate for fire?

Oh yea, what is the curved mag?

Actually shoots no problem.  ROF is faster than UZI full size but slower then UZI MINI. Easy to keep down and on target. Had to tweak a little to shoot cheep Silver Bear 145gr ammo.  Mag is Madsen 50 I guess. Cant find any more....

Here's a 50rnd drum dump. Yes, those are muscles in my cheeks and arm!! No I'm not going bald......

this is fun... our prototype #1.  Dumps 72 rounds in less than 5 seconds

You need subsonic ammo.

Joe, nice looking setup.  Now you got me thinking about doing the same thing.  A few questions.
What outside diameter is your free float handguard?
Can the handguard length be easily modified/cut to a specific length?
I have a thread adapter for my AWCMK9 that is 1/2 X 28.  Can the 9mm barrel be threaded for this thread adapter without any issues?

thanks!
Dan

Dan, why not just cut a piece of blank to look like the front of the Uzi, so MK9 screws right on? DPMS and most other tubes are 2" OD, same as AWC can. Make the barrel, mount it to the upper, screw on the can, measure the open gap, and cut tube to fit, leave maybe .005-.010" gap....  Sound like a plan?

[blue]Looks like front of Uzi, barrel is 8.5" same as MP5, and OAL is same as Uzi w/MK9, more grip friendly though--[/blue]

[blue]AWC MK9 installed-- measure the gap from nut flat to can, cut the tube to fit with a small gap for expansion if it happens-- [/blue]

-OD is 1.970 and ID is 1.755
-Float tubes can be cut easily in a Lathe with a cut off tool.  Re-anodize the whole thing or just paint the end black.
-1/2-28 is no problem on a 9mm barrel.  All threads I have on guns are 1/2-28.

SBR7_11 set up below is awesome. I almost did it. But, I had a AAC Phantom can coming so I didn't.

Joe, thanks for the info.

HAL, I really like your set up.  It was yours that gave me the idea originally.  I was thinking of cutting the handguard as you had suggested.  I currently have a thread adapter made by Socom (with your help from a while back - thanks again) that I use with my AWCMK9 for my M16/22.  The adapter has clearance for the 9mm round.  I thought that I would try and make use of this adapter since I have it already and won't be using it in the near future (my 22 suppressor 'should' be approved any day now). Also, I thought it would be more cost effective to buy a complete Rock River Arms upper and just have the barrel cut/rethreaded and use my adapter.  Maybe tig weld the adapter in place, or use red loctite?

What to you guys think?  Is this an acceptable way to go?

Thanks,
Dan

I know "Steve in VA" had a 5" threaded for $125 for sale, he had a post on the M16 forum about getting it a little while back, but changed his mind as to the style he wanted. It was on the subguns "under $500", went around 2 times that I seen, not there currently, I just looked.
