Sooooo, I'm waiting for my RRA 9mm upper to come in.  In the meantime, what 9mm ammo would the experts recommend?  I have found some +p+ at a decent price ($150 for 1200 rounds).  Will this be too much ooompf?

Maybe the wrong forum, but anyone handload for their 9mm AR?  Anyone ever try clays?

I prefer AA-#5, AA-#7, VV 3N37 for my 9mm needs.

#5-- std 124 loads, std 147 loads for suppressor

#7-- Full power 115/124 loads

3N37-- std 124 loads, std 147 loads for suppressor

Use whatever you want to load 9mm.

Do the loads have to be full power to function the gun since its blow back, or can yo use light loads?

Std SAMMI spec ammo (domestic manufacture-store bought anything) will suffice. Mine cycled with USA9MMVP (Wally World value pack), Wolf, R-P, S&B, and handloads.

Don't have a 9mm upper yet (considering a RRA, though).  I would suggest Titegroup from Hodgdon, the some folks making Clays.  The powder charge for Clays in 9mm is SOOO small, you can have hang fires and the like.  I am highly impressed with Titegroup in any auto pistol caliber.  Extremely accurate, also.

I've shot at least 5000 rounds per year(for the last five years) with my 1911 using a 200gr bullet and 3.5 grains of clays or less.  I've never had a hangfire or misfire.  Clays is fast burning and ignites easily from my experience.  And getting 2000 handloads from a pound of powder really helps mak those reloads economical.
