some have gotten them to run as DI setups, but the gas port is only a 1 or 2 inches in front of the chamber.....While the piston can run on less gas, it would still require a really short piston position. one of the big issues with with the caliber, the bore diameter is big enough that the pressure in the barrel drops VERY fast and the pressures at most common gas port positions would be very low.
