SA clamp-on under the CMT rail with a  10.3" Hanson barrel set to restrictive. Max bleed still had the cyclic rate too fast with a RC2 suppressor and H3 buffer. Waiting to try a carrier extension I bought on eBay to make the Law Folder compatible with the Armaspec Stealth buffer since the guide rod will hopefully aid with reducing carrier tilt. Also have a neutrally timed Warcomp to aid with the different recoil impulse. Overall, it already shoots like a dream with a H2 buffer and gets 1-1.5 MOA with 77gr IMI Razor Core using the Eotech HHS and a RA 3.5 lb trigger.

I may have posted this here before.. It's a piston AR where I added an AA kit to a 7.62x39mm barrel. I had to drill the gas port slightly larger to get it to run with Wolf ammo.
Attachment Attached File

The reason I am posting it again is because I recently made some changes by replacing the standard lower, upper and bcg with parts from a PSA KS47 in order to use AK mags. Now I am trying to get the AA piston kit to work with it. I added an AA strike face in place of the carrier key.

Right now it will fire 4 or 5 shots before it hangs up. It will eject the previous round but the BCG stops as it is coming forward before it fully strips the next round from the mag and pushes it into the chamber... Maybe I need an even larger gas port?

I’d advise you experiment with a lighter BCG/buffer/spring before any further enlargement of the GP takes place.

I am pretty much stuck with the PSA BCG because it is specially made to work with the KS47 upper. A regular BCG will not work.

I already have extra springs and buffers ready to go to the range if it doesn't rain this weekend.

I had a similar problem on another gun before and it turned out the BCG I was using was too light. I replaced the lightweight BCG I was using with a full weight BCG and that solved the problem. The BCG would blow back adequately but not come forward with enough force to strip a round from the mag. But that was a DI gun in 5.56.

But this problem looks very similar so I will experiment with different buffers and springs. I seem to have lots of spares.

picture thread:
this is why the KS47 system requires a special upper and BCG, because AK mags are slightly wider -

My very first Ar was a piston gun.  Stag 8T.  It had a 16'' Gov. profile barrel, had to go.  Stag installed this 11.5 for me.  Swapped barrels on the LMT from a 10.5 gas upper I bought.

Well I got my AR/AK hybrid out to the range today. Missed the last two weekends due to rain.

To address the problem I noted above I took two buffer spings - 1 slightly shorter than what the gun had and 1 slightly longer, and I took two buffers - 1 slightly heavier and 1 slightly lighter.

I started off trying the slightly shorter spring and that seems to have fixed the problem. I shot several mags dry and still had some problems out of 1 particular mag, but that's avoidable since I have a lot and have them numbered.

But for the most part there was no problem using cheap Wolf ammo.

So I am pretty satisfied that this project is working. It's a 7.62X39mm PSA KS47 upper/lower and BCG with an Adams Arms piston kit. Pretty unique among all of my 2 dozen or so ARs.

Yes it is, 4 position adjustable gas block for Piston drive system, (0) for single shot, (1) for 3" shells, (2) for high power 2 3/4 shells (3) for most other 2 3/4 shells.

I put a V Seven Weapons system Titanium short throw safety selector on it since I had it already in my AR15 build box. Vortex sparc 2 red dot.

FCG standard AR15 along with the A2 grip. Few other parts, BCG all proprietary but built like a tank. Chrome lined barrel uses standard Remington chokes. M LOK Alloy rail.

The Chi Comms hit a home run with this one. Exclusively sold at Academy sports $599.00. Bought it last Christmas for $549.00.

I have fired 140 rounds thru it, not a single failure. 8 Pounds 11 ounces, amazing gun lol, really love it.

Only gripes is spare parts, and magazine availability is limited, and to only 5 rounds. You get 2 mags with it. I now have 4 magazines as I bought another one for back up and spare parts if ever needed lol.

I'm thinking about building a pistol using the Centurion CMR, so this brings me lots of Joy, granted its not the CMR but I'm loving this setup, and can't wait for you to tell us about it after day at the Range!

Some more info:
It's a BCM 12.5" carbine barrel, Adam's Arms micro adjustable piston, Centurion C4 midlength pocket rail, and a Daniel Defense FSB at the midlength position.  Kinda a piston version of the BCM kino upper.

Some trimming and adjusting of the inside of the rail was needed to clear everything.
I also drilled a hole through the adjustment knob so that I can turn it with a allen wrench or punch through the holes in the rail.

ETA:
Range report:
For easier discussion, I'm going to number the Adams piston settings as 1-11%, 2-32%, 3-53%, 4-74%, and 5-100% (full open).
I tried it with an H2 buffer first.  It functioned suppressed at setting 2, but did not function at setting 1 (FTE's, FTF's)
Unsuppressed, setting 5 was not reliable, FTE/FTF about 20% of the time when shooting standing.

I switched to a unmarked carbine buffer.
With that, it functioned fine suppressed on setting 2 and unsuppressed on setting 5.

I used a relatively new standard carbine spring the whole time.
~100-120 rounds total between zeroing and function checking.
