Eh, I think the blame is on both us and manufacturers to a degree. We don't buy enough, and they don't make enough. I know I was looking at a DD barrel but, the darn thing was virtually never in stock, and that was before the panic.

The problem isn't theme making the barrels the problem it they are being cheep asses and varying the profile to not have to source 625 gas blocks and fsp's

Not sure a proper job can be done to a .750. You would have the FSB area to turn.

i would think in the end you would be better off buying a colt barrel. you would be well over $300 for the DD barrel with it turned down.

Colts aren't going to be as accurate, and it's difficult to find them in 14.5 and 11.5.
