I'm getting ready to order a Brick mod. and grenade ring for an SBR XM177E2 clone. Do I need an A1 lock washer somewhere on there or just tighten the mod. down on the grenade ring?  Thanks.

I know it's been said not to use the lock washer, but... from Ekie's USGI Colt Carbine parts variation guide:

"When the “grenade ring” is installed correctly it covers the lock washer (GAU-5/A/A and XM177E2 only):"

I don't know either way, just stoking the fire!

Ok now madman,,go ahead and install the lock washer,THEN see if the mounting lip of your XM148 will fit in there!!!!
NO LOCK WASHER USED,part of the reason for the wrench flats is so you can torque it to proper spec.

So the grenade ring acts as sort of an A2 crush washer?

Nope, just as a washer; which is enough.

No lock ring on mine. Few hundred shots and hasn't loosened up a bit.

Where does the mounting lip of the 148 go on a 20" rifle?
