Dad just bought a .308 oracle DPMS and he wants to tame the recoil a bit.

What is the best comp in the $75 range? Will be used at the range, maybe a little hunting. Would like something that won't blind us during night shooting as well

AAC Brakeout?  Combines a brake and a flash hider, and it 95 bucks if you know where to look, (possibly cheaper, I haven't found one cheaper yet) but I haven't heard a whole lot of reviews as of yet.  I'm looking to grab one up soon to complete my rifle, and as I have plans for a SDN-6 suppressor.

You're not going to get the best comp for 75 bucks. It's going to be loud as fuck, also!

I run the PWS.  It's closer to $100 but it works awesome.   There is almost no recoil.   However, it is really, really loud on a 16" gun.  I shot a deer twice last year and I thought I went deaf for about an hour.

Not sure the price but the Shrewd do an excellent job of taming recoil.  Marty used them on my .458 SOCOM pistol, .470 Rhino rifle, .358 HDH rifle and made another for my .338 Federal.  Are they the best, don't know, but they work, and as others pointed out, THEY ARE LOUD!

the griffin armament flashcomp is decent, put one on my MWS and it it cut the recoil a good bit. maybe not as much as a two port break but its very shootable

I had the Miculek on my DPMS 308 and also my old Saiga 308.. Worked well on both.. has 3 slots..

The concussive blast left/right is quite abit.. but the kick is cut down alot too..

Maybe a JP Cooley Comp (has similar) side slots 3 (and 4 top holes for rise).. I am running that on my VEPR in 54r.. and it works GREAT..

agree pri best out there. but, dang the report to the face is odious, as with any brake. why even have one. shoot a 375 h&h and 308 seems like a pipsqueak.

I went from A2 to AR Performance Vortex Comps.  In a nutshell, it has 2 chambers.  The first has three 1/4" holes facing up.  The second chamber is a 4 prong twisted flash hider.  The prongs are twisted at 11.25/1, just like the rifling in his 6.8 barrels.  The ends of the forks are connected so they won't ring like a tuning fork or get brush caught in them.  They are melonite treated.  Anything more and hearing protection would be required when hunting.
