Now that CMMG has a new line of AR-10's coming out. I also saw that BUSHMASTER makes a AR-308/10. Also we have Armalite and DPMS. I found the BUSHMASTER series for about 1100 online but i am wondering which one is in your opinion the best way to go. I am also wondering if the BUSHMASTER AR10 is a billet receiver like the others? I am not new to this site but i finally got a account! Thanks

Am I under the assumption that a billet upper and lower can induce better accuracy? Also my budget is 1500 or under seems like I can get a great setup for that price. Also theres always the DSA FAL that's piston driven ;) thanks for all the comments and advise I appreciate it. Does RRA use p mags? Does dpms?

Armalite

This.  The only real "AR10" is made by Armalite, it is a registered TM.

The trademark is about the only thing the original AR10 has in common with the current owner's offerings.

Prebuilt, LaRue.  Build your own, MA-TEN.

I went with a POF lower and DPMS upper. The Armalite won't take Pmags, so I didn't go that route.

What are your accuracy requirements and more importantly what is your budget?

I can only comment on the Armalite . Mine has been 100% reliable and accurate enough for the kind of plinking i do.

My ArmaLite is very reliable, and accurate. Can't really comment about the others, though I did handle a DPMS once, and it just felt cheap but I think it was their cheapest model.

I have severalArmalites and a CMMG. Both are great. I have a DOMS and it is also GTG.  Dont really know of any bad AR 308's out there but I'm sure there may be some.

Id be happy with silver dollar groups at 100 yards and my budget is 1500 or under.  Thanks for the.replies.been asleep work nights

MA-TEN with armalite bolt and your choice of barrel.  Uses 308 Pmags.  Best of both worlds.

Am I under the assumption that billet upper and lower will induce better accuracy than forged? All of the advise is well received and i appreciate everyones comments.

Nothing against Armalite, (i had one and they are excellent quality) other than modified M14 mags, and that's ok, I just like the KAC mag format vs the rest, with KAC you can use PMags. While not a fan of DPMS, they all feel a little cheap, they do get the job done. I do like LMT's quick change barrel, and different caliber options, I just hate their weight, I have only shot and handled LaRue and that was a OBR, which was a excellent platform to.  I have a LMT and a KAC EMC, the EMC was very spendy, but it lighter, shoots smoother, and easily out shoots me.

+1.  My middy shoots great, <1 moa @ 100 yards with 168grn GMM, and has been totally reliable with all factory ammo.  No FTF, FTE, or other issues and I'm using the supplied steel FAL magazine.  Also got it for a great price.  Took 2 deer with it this year as well.  Good luck on your decision.

++1 on the RRA LAR-8

I can put several shots in one ragged hole at 100 yards consistantly. It was $1200.00 at a very high priced gun shop. I am sure you can get one for much less. It was one of those "can't wait" purchases for me.

I love shooting it but be warned it isn't a lightweight but none of the .30 AR's are.

Here's my DPMS.  I've got about $1800 into everything you see on it now.
It shoots 2.5" groups with DAG, Port and SA surplus.  I shoot steel so I've not found a need to even try factory or handloaded ammo to tighten it up but I'm sure this rifle is less than 1 MOA in a skilled shooters hands with match grade ammo.

Here's what she looked like when I bought her for $1,000.

My DPMS is on order, it will be my second DPMS rifle. I reccommend them.

I can't speak about others because this is my first one, but my DPMS is very accurate using 168g boat tail game king hollow points, I hand load them with RG 4895 and they knock down deer like the fist of an angry God. Since I got it I haven't even considered using my 30-06 bolts guns this year. ( the wound is the exit, entry was the right shoulder.
