Did they start making any good working fair price mags that would work for a 7.62x39 ar15?I really would like to get a colt upper for this round but the mag situation is still holding me back. Then I could get rid of 2 of the 3 skss' that I bought.

I used to have an itch for an AR in 7.62x39.  Got looking and really wasn't impressed with what I saw and price comparable.  Ended up buying an AK to cover that caliber and was satisfied.  What I did do was ended up buying a 6.5mm Grendel, and I am real excited to get it up and running.  It can use the cheaper AR 7.62x39 mags pretty well evidently.  Hoping production on it will take off ,and the variants will be as good as the 5.56

Cheaper Than Dirt has TripleK 20 round AR-15 7.62x39 mags for $20 each - also works as a 27 round Grendel mag

I know DPMS has made some of the 30-rd Franken Mags that look identical to the old USA mags that work so well...  I have yet to find a place to order them however!

The ones now made by DPMS are better than the USA Franken mags. They were base on the G-Tech model which were the best ever made for 7.62 AR. I ordered some from DPMS, fit and finish are much better than my brand new USA ones.

What price are these going for? Is DPMS going to start producing these again?

I am pleasantly shocked and surprised that DPMS is making the franken mags. What is the word on current availability? Are they really actually working? Price? are they one piece or hack and welds? I would love to know more about this.

You can call DPMS and order any time now for $49.95 each with free shipping. Mine works great.

I wish the mags weren't so much. I really have an itch to build a 7.62x39 AR. I am trying to sell my AK to help fund this.

I really don't like my AK anymore. I have BRD.

On the 7.62x39 AR-15, I saw a lower receiver that takes AK mags & drums but you have to cut the upper out to work. Does anyone know anything about these??  I saw it at www.ar47.com Mark

Looks real nice jt325i , I came real close to buying a 7.62x39 kit , the price of surplus ammo is real intising . I went with the .50 Beowulf instead which I love but have to reload my own to be able to afford to shoot it .  I may get a 7.62x39 yet though , can't have enough AR's , lol .

It looks fantastic! Did they do the work on the upper for you? Also how does it shoot? Mark

I bought mine as a complete rifle off Gunbroker from a dealer in AZ. (Just down the road from Special Weapons which is based in Mesa apparently) Anyways, the upper work was already done. Mine works great & with Wolf/Barnaul ammo I can do about 2" groups at 100 yards offhand with irons.  More recoil than a 5.56 AR but still less than a traditional AK. (The 20" barrel & compensator probably help a little though)

Your a better shot than me then.

Wonder what kind of groups you could get a with optics off sandbags with a 7.62x39 ar15?

This may be my deer gun next year.

MOA is possible with high end American or Lapua ammunition. The Engel Ballistic research 220 ammo is sub MOA.

Now that I have an ak47 coming my way and I ordered a bunch of steel mags for it and it looks like the price of the british and taiwan steel ar15 mags are down in price, I want to make some fraken mags. Does anyone have a drawing or pics on" how to". I have an idea how it is done but a little info can save me from making mistakes.
