AR Performance has 18" barrels in the $200 price range that have 5r and 3r rifling. From what I can find, they are great barrels, especially for the money.

As already stated Faxon and BA are great options. Faxon has a new Match series with 5r rifling in 223 wylde that might be worth a look. White Oak Armament is also worth a look. They have an SPR profile for around $280 that is really good. Larue will be mentioned as well and they seem to get great feedback

Larue, Faxon, BA, etc should do you just fine. If you want stainless, check out JSE Surplus for some 18" barrels from Wilson. |

Depends on budget. The following are excellent barrel makers at different prices.
Ballistic Advantage White oak armory Rock Creek Ranier Ultramatch JP Rifles Lilja Bartlein Hart Kreiger Never shot or owned a Hart or Bartlein but they have an excellent reputation. |

I only have one rifle length barrel in .223 wylde. The rest (7) are midlength except for 2 carbine shorter barrels. Rifle length has zero differences over my midlengths. It is pointless in anything under 20" IMO. The recoil is the same, accuracy is the same, ejection patterns are the same, reliability is the same.

Nobody mentioned Noveske, I have a lightweight 18" modified midlength that shoots bullets into really small groups. The thing is they are pretty expensive, If I was looking for another 18" I'd take a chance on something in the $200 range.

I would also add Green Mountain to that list...but i agree with all of the above, all are awesome choices, i have Larue, BA, Faxon, GM barrels on my spr's
