Have one of the 18" barrels. Shoots extremely well. Did well with 53gr Hornady match out to 500, and shot both 69gr and 77gr bullets into very small holes. I am impressed.

I had one in 18", was not impressed with its accuracy. I replaced it with a Douglas barrel from CLE and group sizes shrank in half.

If you look at old threads, most people seem to get MOA or less with good ammo and are happy with them. Others get larger groups and are not so happy.

Who makes it for them? BCM SS410 ? I got the 16'' ionbond, and BCM won't tell me.

I copied this from Calguns.net who were having a discussion on 410 vs 416r SS barrels. " style='font-weight: bold;']410 and 416 have the same hardness in annealed form. The 416 is around 14% stronger in ultimate tensile strength (less important, think stretching plato up the the point where you see holes and cracking) and 24% stronger in yeild strength (more important for a barrel, think plasticity or the limit of when a metal can return to its original properties after stress w/out deforming). When heat treated, like your barrels should be, this disparity goes away and they can be heat treated to identical strengths, difference is 416 gets much harder when this is done compared to 410. 410's Rc34 vs 416's capability to go to Rc44-45. So again 416 is harder, can last longer, is more durable. By I'd say a semi significant margin. Yet, 416 is actually easier to machine (silicon), and slightly cheaper to buy than 410."[/span] |
