I'm looking for a quality 12.5" or 12" barrel.  What are my options?  I'd like SS.  I like the looks and idea of those black Ion barrels Denny has too.

It would need dimples for a gas block and probably flats for set screws although I plan on using an Vltor flip up sight/gas block combo.  If not, I will install my longer rail over it and use my front KAC flip up.

Carbine gas system is probably my only option and that's just fine.  This barrel will probably host an OPS can in the early early spring and that's why I'm looking at 12" or so minimum.  I think my 11.5" will work but I would like a little bit more barrel.

What are Noveske's offerings?  I've looked but I can't keep it all straight.

I'm looking for feedback from those of you who might have invested a little more time than I have in looking around for such a thing.

Thanks

Well I didn't ask in the first place but to keep from getting recommendations and then running out to look at them and then coming back with questions, please state the stats of your choices and reasons.

Stats like sight options, profile, etc.  Barrel twist is a given at 1:7 i'd think.

Pictures of profiles will help because I don't have that all straight in my head.

Thanks so far!

Oh, and for sure prices would be great!

The first two items are good Stick.  But if you'd read I put that I will be using an VLTOR flip up FSB/GB (actually I've got an email in to you too...)

And I have a carrier with an MP tested bolt...

I do like the polygonal rifling.

Flare gun?!?!?

Actually, yes.

The folks a checkpoints in-theater requested those, giving them the ability to shoot a gov't-issue Mk-31 flare at non-stopping traffic, as part of their "escalation of force protocol"...if the vehicle doesn't stop...they have a weapon ready to unleash hell.

Good thing to have.

That is a REALLY good idea.

I have had that exact problem and you can't function the flare launcher and the rifle at the same time.

Goddamnit steve.

Specs please.

You will have to take the 10.0 and MUR-1 upper I bought from you on trade if you want me to buy an upper and barrel like that from you.  I sold IAN my old 16" DMR WOA barrel.

PM me a total price I'd have to send you with the 10.0 and MUR.  The MUR has a slight hickey from a Larue mount but other than that, both excellent condition.

Let me know.

ETA: I'm assuming it's a 10" VIS.

I also have an 11.5" BCM to sell...

I have a Dennys GTS operator barrel. I wanted the long lasting chrome but if I did it over again I would have done a Larue Stealth upper as I ended up using everything but their barrel anyways.
Here is my GTS build-

I'm mostly interested in a barrel.  I've got a MUR-1 I'd probably use and I have handguards I can't give away that I'll probably use.

Kind of a silly thing to discount an entire company and line of products over.

I wouldnt touch the stuff either. Its personal preference but I dont buy them anymore after having a upper combo with ramps that didnt match for shit.  One of the uppers I had also was apparantly way out of spec because I couldnt get a Larue mount to go onto if for anything(but it would go on 2 other uppers in my possession without problem)  It just seems like they tend to be lower quality to me so thats why I dont consider them when looking. But adco and others seem to do just fine with them

Sorry but my "morals" are not silly to me.  I bought a nice lower of theirs from Pete many years ago and it was great.  But then I saw what they did with ramps just to get into the M4 ramp craze.

I've got too many other choices to go with.  There is absolutely no need to go with them again.  None at all.

Call me crazy but I don't think not liking RR because of their feed ramps rates as a "moral" issue.

Second, the barrel is made by Wilson, not RR. I bought it from RR but they can be had from many different vendors.

They butchered ramps and put out crap just to jump onto the gravy train.  That's a bad business ethic and I won't subscribe to it or be a part of it.

If I don't get a Noveske with polygonal rifling it will be a LaRue or one of Denny's.  I've had a WOA 16" middy and the Wilson is probably the last on my list...

Thanks though.

I like your rifle and may pursue that VIS.

Me too.  At a more reasonable price they could sell a lot of them.  As is I'm just waiting to see what happens with SCAR and Masada pricing.

UPSguy:

That appears to be a 12.5" bbl in a VIS-2A (10") rail, with a surefire 556AR suppressor adapter

I didn't think that combo would work as you need (according to Surefire) 2.75" of BBL.

What's up???

No custom cutting on Steves part.  Just a mislabed VIS, I mean super rare only one of its kind never to be duplicated bet you wish you could have one just like it 9" VIS.

yes

Neat.  What's the minimum? Have you considered putting the "intermediate" length (the Vltor gas system for 18" barrels, like 10.5" gas length) into production?  Seems there might be as much of a market for that length (for 18" and even 16-17" barrels, especially for the 3gun shooters) as for the 12.5" barrels.

IIRC the intermediate gas system was meant for use as a mid length when Eric Kincel worked at KAC, but the Armalite midlength became the standard.
