look up five pics, the guy kneeling wearing ACU's is holding a 417 not a 416. Look at the magazine as well also as the ammo and magazine well.

A US Army operator complete with the 7.62 mm HK417.

Wow, I was unaware that H&K 417's were being fielded by some units (unless, of course, that's an H&K model).

FWIW, the guy's wearing a kevlar (by which I mean PASGT, if you want to be technical, what I mean though, is not a MICH/ACH/Whatever the hell HSLD wants to wear).  Which is to say, yes, there's a chance that someone in the Army with access to an HK417 might feel the need to keep his kevlar, instead of going with something like the MICH or whatever else, I find it difficult to believe even the most "old school" type of operator would prefer one, and I'm sure he could get a different one if he wanted to.

That being said, I actually like the HK417 much better than the HK416, it doesn't try to solve a problem that doesn't exist, it isn't as aggressively marketed (if you look at some other posts, you'll see why this matters to me), and could be seen a new niche weapon, something that could be issued on the same level/class as the M14/Sage EBR's that've been going around.  Not to say that I've got anything again the M14

But my vote would be HK photo-op.

Yeah, that is definitely a photo op. Nice angle on the 417 though.
