I was curious if anyone knows if DPMS makes their own barrels in-house?  Or do they use Wilson or E.R. Shaw to make them?

The reason I ask is that I am pricing out some various options for a superlight upper from a couple of different places and part of my decision is based on the manufacturer of the parts.  The only place I can find a *reasonably* priced chomre lined superlight barrel is the E.R. Shaw barrels at Model 1 Sales.  If DPMS sources their barrels out from E.R, then all of it is kind of a moot point if you see what I am trying to say.

Anyhow, let the heated discussion on barrel manufacturers begin.

From what i understand, they get the barrel blanks from wilson, then dpms pulls the button thru the bore, chambers it, sets barrel extension and drills hole for the gas system.

Excellent, exactly what I wanted to know.

I asked DPMS the same thing and they said a DPMS barrel is a DPMS barrel. They do not use Wilson Barrels. IMO DPMS is the best bang for the buck for accuracy VS price.
