I'm looking to upgrade one of my ARs for medium(and long) range ground hog hunting and need a new barrel.

Here is some basic info about my needs:
shots will be less than 600 meters
prefer 20" barrel but will consider 24"
needs to handle 62-77gr bullets

Rifle might also be used for hunting larger game in the future.

Advice from knowledgable shooters appreciated.

Something in the Stainless Steel 1:8 persuasion might be up your alley.

My $.02.

That's kinda what I was thinking.  Any ideas on manufacturer, barrel type & length?

I don't have any experience with any of them, but any of the bigger name barrels in the 20" Varmint (bull barrel) persuasion will most likely give you less than 1MOA.

You better have a range finder or some markers in your field.

I would go w/ a 24" , the .223 needs all the velocity it can get with those heavy bullets.

Krieger seems to be the barrel of choice by most of the people I've talked to.  Like those guys said

above said, any good name brand barrel should give the result you need.
