After reading and posting in a thread about a colt a2 govt 1/7 some of the guys we're saying, it's kind of collectable. And I have one. I figured if I ever shot the barrel out I'd just swap a new one. Now after looking on fulton armory, bushmaster, and armalite, I'm realizing that 1/7 barrels are NOT that common. Holy crap. I would think they'd be all over the place because I thought it was the profile of what the government uses. Are these things not that easy to find???? Should I get a new upper / barrel combo if I'm going to shoot the crap out of it? I have about 1,000 rounds through it and I got it used. I've been itching to have a reason to have something different but the thing is pretty nice as it is. And I don't like spending money frivoulisly.
So I've got several dillemma's going on here. #1 If I make 77 or 75 grains my go to round and stock up on it, if I ever have to swap the barrel I may be stuck with a barrel that will not stabalize these rounds.
#2. If I shoot the crap out of my 1/7 or if I set aside, it's useless anyways so why not just shoot the crap out of it?
or #3 Am I just worrying about nothing and these barrels are available.
I know there's 1/8 barrels but some of them don't have nato chambers. Or I know I could probably get one but it'd be at a premium price.
What's everybody's philosphy on this?????????
