I am looking at a bushmaster m4 with an A3 top model number  BCWA3F 16M4. Lowest price I found was $809.  Is this a good price, or are there better deals out there? I am not completely set on a Bushmaster brand, so any suggestions are helpful.

I agree with Combat Jack: that's a fair price.

That's a good price. Here in Georgia, it's about 889.00.  I'll currently looking at a RRA M4 A2 top for 749.00

CMMG has a forum in the industry section, you'd get a 1/7 barrel for heavier bullets and a heavier carrier for less money, quality about the same.

It's quite a bit cheaper to build a lower, especially if you plan on upgrading anything anyway, and it isn't hard. Probably save a couple bucks just buying the upper and lower seperate. Bushmaster uppers aren't too bad but the lowers seem pricey to me.

Not a bad price on a new Bushmaster though if it's what you want.

So who has better lowers than Bushmaster? And while we are at it who  has better uppers? I already know colt does, but i dont want to spend that much.

Brday - Colt (or "Clot" as we call them) does not have better quality than Bushy or several others.  Clot is now just a collectors name and holds no place in our hearts when it comes to "superior quailty."

You can feel comfortable building an AR lower from many manufacturers including Ameetec, MEGA Machine Shop, RRA, etc.   I personally highly recommend getting a Bushmaster barrel for when you build an AR.  You'll never be disappointed.

I'm a die-hard Bushy fan but even I have been impresssd with the quality of lowers out there by Ameetec and MEGA (both ~$90) - Bushy lower is about $170.

If you haven't considered building your AR, do so.  It;s pretty easy, especially when you have a few thousand friends here to help out.  You'll be able to save some serious bucks by building it yourself.

I say get a M4 upper from cmmg for $500, then build your own lower for about $200.  Save you about a $100 and you get the chrome-lined 1:7" barrel as a bonus.

This is definitely the way to go.  Buying a complete rifle is like burning money.  Most here can push in the two takedown pins, but there have been a few that make me wonder.

To have a compareable rifle this is what i came up with(correct me if im wrong). I know that the barrel is different though. Receiver$90, parts kit $60, collapasble stock $90,cmmg upper with 1:7 twist $500 plus $35 tax (i live in missouri), carry handle $125, plus i didnt count shipping for most of these items.Thats $900. I can get a new Bushy from aim surplus with all this except for the 1:7 barrel for $809. I dont mind a parts gun, but  it seems hard to beat this deal. Maybe I am missing something here. I am kinda thick headed. I dont have to have a bushy, but this is the best deal i have found.

i come up with $713.  and i was kinda picky about what i wanted so it's costing me a little more than it had to.

RRA stripped lower $125 (that's s+h, dealer's fee, background)

M4 kit from model1 $490 (for chrome lined barrel & chamber) $30 extra for a M4 stock (car stock included)

$50 for detachable carry handle/A2 sight from sarco

i'm guessing $18 for s+h on the kit from model1 since that's what j&t charges (or use to)

Thats a lot cheaper than i came up with. Might be a silly question ,but how much does a parts kit gun lower resale value?
