Hello Gentlemen,

I need some help Identifying these 2 different early Colt carbine buffers. Both are STEEL:

1- The first one is a 1 piece steel, with a sliding weight in it (sounds like only 1 weight in there). It does not have a roll pin for the plastic buffer tip. This one has me puzzled, what is it?
This one weighs ~5.5oz

2- The second is a 2 piece "mechanical buffer" that I believe was/is included with 635 9mm SMG. It is all steel, has a roll pin for the buffer tip.
This one weighs ~5.4oz

Thanks!

The top one is a Pre 1981 Colt Carbine buffer...the post 1981 carbine buffers are like the current production units(unmarked for standard and H marked for heavy), they have clear plastic bumpers and they have a cross roll pin. The early units were press fitted in. The rubber bumpers can be yellow or orange on the 1965-81 buffers.

The bottom is a Colt 635 9mm buffer.
