OK, so last Sunday of the month is usually my shooting day. I missed last month and October is always our month off, so I had to go this month for sure. Only prolem was hurricane Jeanne! Who cares about the hurricane, Im going shootin! A few of the FDCC folks showed up too. We didnt have any match, but we did have some fun. I only brought a couple rifles, and I intentionally left them out in the rain (Im talkin rain here, not just a drizzle) for a few hours. Here's a pic...
Results... nothing out of the ordinary to report. When we were done I did briefly dry them off with a towel and wipe them down with some CLP. No problems with optics (Trijicon TA31 and Aimpoint Comp ML) at all except for a lot of rain on the lenses. No fog to speak of. No problems with the Surefire lights either. I was expecting the LEDs on the M900 to light up as I have heard they will activate when wet. I didnt notice this though. I did not wipe down the stocks on the rifles and when I took them out of the bag (which also got soaked) on Monday afternoon, some of the screws on the Magpul stock had surface rust. The Deiter CQD front sling mount also had surface rust. The Knights QD sling swivel had some rust as well. All of which were wiped away with a toothbrush and some CLP.
Im really happy, I didnt shoot the rifles a whole lot but the 90 or so rounds I shot were just fine. Really I just let them sit in the rain so I could see how all that water would effect them. More pictures from the shoot, including Mikes new 20" bad ass gun here;
