Can someone tell me what the difference is between their "16 inch Chrome Lined M4 Profile Barrel" and their "16 inch Chrome Lined Heavy Barrel"?

It seems to me that the heavy barrel would be the way to go.
As far as I can tell the weight difference is only .23 lbs.

The barrels in the second and third picture is what I am talking about.

Is the difference only Cosmetic?

From the picture? Yes. The M4 profile bbl has the cut in it for the M203 grenade launcher. The HB does not.

If the bbls have the same twist rate, then they will function just the same. I personally prefer the 1/7 twist.

I believe--key word "believe"--that the M4 bbls are slimmed down a bit under the handguards.

Then the heavier Barrel should be able to sustain a more Rapid Fire.
Wouldn't you think?
I never understood why they don't Fin the barrel to dissapate the heat faster.

Heavy barrels are for high-volumes of FULL AUTO. Doing 6+ full-auto mag dumps is the only thing that's going to be a problem for a standard M4 barrel, but remember: you have to carry the extra weight of the HBAR all the time. The HBAR fad has largely come and gone has people have rediscovered why ARs were designed to be lightweight in the first place. Plus, with the tendancy to add railed handguards and accessories, you already have plenty (too much) weight as it is.

Truer words have rarely been said. My jacked up fadded out M4 clone weighs about the same (or more) as my M14 clone. Some of this specialized stuff is for full auto, military application. I doubt many who want that M4 HB will ever use it in any fashion that would ever justify the extra weight. Give me a 16" 1/7 pencil............
