I am trying to decide what color I should Dura-Coat my 458 SOCOM upper in, and I need to know soon.  So, I simply need to see pics of ARs that have OD and/or Desert Tan furniture or are painted in those colors.  Any combo would be great, just gimme lots o' pics.

Any pics that you all could post I'd really appreciate.  I need to decide soon!

This lower was from another project, stay away from cheap paint. I feel Krylon and is the way to go.

This is actually the lower that should have been with the above upper.

And this is project in Hawkeys honor, when it is finished I hope for it to look like his above

Sorry for such  bad pictures, will get more  taking  once it light out side. Decided to get  my feet  wet  on camo'n  my M4A3. :D
I'd  taking it apart,  than masked off  my  reflex sight and rear  iron sight, applied OD  green,  than it was on, ended up  adding OD  green  to  my hand guards, rear stock and tactical light. It look really good in  person, these pictures suck.  Tomorrow  is a whole new day.

I'm  considering  doing the woodland camo  or  digital woodland camo, the digital  camo  would be  time consuming.
Proably  ended up  taking the easy rought,  and  just do a  quick  passes  with  differnt  camo  colors.

Also  could just leave  it like  it  is.  :D

Comments??

Do you think we should start a thread that compares one company's OD with another company?  This way we would know Tango Down OD matches KAC OD.  Just a thought...

Great idea, but unless they are all in the same photo, differences in cameras, lighting and monitors would make it tough to tell what actually matches.

Here is what I have done so far.  I just can not bring myself to paint the rifle and Acog yet.  The tan is darker in person.

http://www.hunt101.com/img/149334.JPG

I am thinking of doing some OD stripes over the tan.  Look at the mag on the far right.

I know what your saying! It took months of pondering just to get up the nerve to paint my furniture! My trigger finger starts to quiver when it's placed over that spray can button and I start thinking about painting the whole weapon!

Nice rifle!

here's a project i just started as a 'knock-around' rifle i wouldn't have to worry about scratching up. it's in mid-project right now.  made a couple of cardboard templates and just used mil-spec colour aervoe enamel spray paint.  'dusted' a light coat of tan to soften the lines.  not as nice looking as a professional paint job, but eh, it's all mine
colt SP1 receiver, colt lightweight 16" barrel, LMT rear sight. KAC RIS.
cheers,
MM
