Hi!

Maybe this isn't even the right board to post this question, but here goes anyway.  I purchased a bushmaster m4ish with a fixed a2 carry handle upper.  I just want to replace the a2 fixed carry handle upper with an an a3 flat top so I can put some optics on it. I would love to be qualified to do this, but I'm not.  I need to know what company does a a great job and how much should I expect to pay for the bushmaster A3 upper and the labor to remove the replacing of the a2.  I have only put 150 rnds through the gun and don't want to replace the complete upper if I don't have to.

I don't know who'll do the swap for you, but there are some great deals on RRA and MEGA uppers on the EE that you'll want to look into.

I want to stay with a bushmaster a4 upper  if possible.

A stripped flat top upper receiver from BM will cost you 129 bucks and if you send them your upper they'll pop it on for free.  I checked in because i was gonna have it done also but am now just buying a whole new upper from them, couldn't hurt to have two.

Do you have a link for that deal?

The link is the bushmaster website -- they'll install any parts you purchase at no extra cost.

I'm not sure what a "non removeable A2 upper" might be, every upper receiver I've seen comes off once the two pins are removed.

FYI, Bushmaster calls their flattops a "V Match" upper, or A3 upper.

Troy,

Thank you.  That was exactly the information I was looking for.

Do you see yourself wanting a flip up sight in the future?  If so, have BM remove the FSB and install a gas block for you while they're at it.  I routinely assemble uppers from parts instead of buying them complete, the one thing I have the most trouble with is BM barrel's FSB.  While a few members have done it with relative ease, I and many others find it all but impossible, these taper pins are machine pressed in.
I've done this to two of perfectly good BM FSBs, not only did it take me 2 hours to cut it open each time, I also wasted parts I need elsewhere.

Duffy,

What is the typical cost bushmaster charges for that?

I dunno, if BM will charge nothing to put your barrel on the newly purchased upper receiver, this should be no charge, since they have the equipment it'd take less time for them to do that than swapping receivers.  But I'd do as Troy advised, call BM and find out [:)]  Whatever they charge, if any, is better than having to endure the pain of removing the FSB yourself [bd]

No sweat, just wanted to make sure you get what you ask for when you do call Bushmaster.  Otherwise you may end up with a Rail System instead of a flattop upper. [:D]
