Anyone have one? How does it carry and shoot? Is the brake effective? I'm looking for something a little lighter/handier for walkup varminting in the West.

I had one. It pointed and shot nice. Really kept the recoil and Muzzle climb down. The only problem was it was loud to the shooter and shooters on the side of you. It did keep the blast out of your sights while shooting it.

My only AR for the moment is AkA3 Bushy.  The brake is very effective for controlling muzzle climb(what little there is with AR's). As sixgun stated, it can be a bit brutal to those shooting nearby.I am very pleased with how it points and shoots.

My only input is that being this close to the expiration of the current ban, you may want to get a 16' std crown barrel and wait to see if you can have her threaded in 10 months.

Agreed

In a Post ban, general all around Utility Carbine, I really like the "AK_Shorty".  The one thing I do though is that I prefer the M4/M203 cutout barrel.

I always wonder what the folks who complain about muzzle brakes are wearing for hearing protection.  I can tell breakes are a little different, there's soms blast, but the noise thru your earplugs shouldn't be a factor.

The 14.5" HBAR is very, very heavy.  Bushmaster sells it as a machinegun barrel.  The Army is using a similar diameter barrel with some M4A1 carbines (AUTO) but for semi use all you get is more weight.  The M4-AK barrel setup is much lighter.

The AK74 design brake works very well.

I just ordered a M4A3 with a AK brake and ace stock from Bushmaster, it should be here in a week or so.   I will let you know how I like mine.

Me Too. [>:/]
I always ask shooters on the line with me if
the Brake on my Armalite 20" or my Cetme bothers them - so far nobody cares.
(Most people I shoot with wear Muffs.)
