Got one.  Love it.  Likes the Federal 69gr match though I tried the 55gr and it seemed just as good to me.  I gravitated to the 69gr after reading many posts on the subject.  Never fired an AR prior to this one. After 100 rounds I'm hitting under an inch at 100 yards and I don't shoot that often.  It will outshoot me for sure.  There is a pic in the
"dedicated 22 upper" thread.

I have three of them, 2 Regular Varminters & 1 A2/DCM Varminter Custom Built by Bushmaster. I shoot 55grn Nosler BT in them. ¼" groups are easily achieved with this rifle & ammo combination.

I have one, and it loves 50 and 55 grain ballistic tips.  I load both bullets over a warm load of Win 748, and it is a tack driver.

What are the risers and/or rings you guys are using? I know Bushmaster supplies risers, but it doesn't seem like all of you are using them.

How about scopes?

I didn't like the risers that came on the Varminter, so I took e'em off and now I am using the one piece Rock River mount...

I just bought the stainless steel barrel varmiter  upper and put it on my colt preban 6601 match lower.  i live in the middle of a prarie dog town and have put it to good use.  I use sierra 40gr blitzkings with explosive results.  My scope is lacking and i could use some good affordable recommendations as to what would be a good choice.  Shoots out to 500 yards is a constant option.  The wind is hard on the light bullets though.....windy days i use the sierra 50gr blitzking.  I love the gun and will do my best to wear it out. Hey, 88,

I like that case.   What is it, and where is it available from?

Thanks for any info.

I believe that is a Pelican 1700 case. I have the 1750 for my Remington 700 PSS LTR and love it. Very durable and available through several internet outlets, including the EE.

Who carries these Pelican gun cases and do they have one that will hold the AR-14/24" barrel without having to break it down?

Pelican case.  I thought the choices for me were Pelican or Starlight and went with Pelican - very happy with it.  Search the internet, you can get it for a decent price.  I don't remember who I bought if from.
