Hi guys,

I am newer to this forum and have a couple factory AR's but I have lately become enamored with the "art" of creating guns from scratch. As a guy who is good with tools/mechanics/etc I figured I could put a rifle together. So, in 2013 I set out a goal to build a rifle... I ended up building 4! I am having fun doing it!

Here is the history of the builds that I have made. I just wanted to share them with you and get your ideas as well.

The first gun I built:
Basic forged receivers with a 12 inch free float. CMMG barrel and Larue gas block.

This is the 2nd gun I built:
I was going for something a little higher-end, as I am finding out. The rail is what sets a gun off... I had a blast building this gun (the receivers and rail are all seekins)

This is the 3rd gun I built:
I wanted to build a FDE gun and I wanted to build a pistol (just to try it) and this is what I came up with...
FIRST RENDITION

SECOND RENDITION

And this is the latest gun I am Finishing up:
used the receiver set from the pistol build and then added a noveske rail. The final touch will be a custom (hidden under-rail) flash hider that's being turned on a lathe. I bought an eotech XPS2  for it.

Thanks for looking.  I am having a great time building these guns. all comments and critiques are welcome as I keep an open mind for change and improvement.

- Bob

How do you like that battlelink stock?

I really like those Seekins lowers, the trigger guard is sharp looking.

Very snug fit (too snug) but im sure it will loosen over time. Very lightweight and rigid. MFT is on to something with that stock.  ALSO, it is the "scorched dark earth" color. their FDE is different.

IMO a flash hider inside the rail is a problem and miscalculation, unless it's a KX3 or something equivalent that directs all muzzle blast forward.

You are correct. The flash hider I am making is conical on the inside and goes out past the rail. It will be a solid stubby version of a kx3 built to fit under the NSR rail. I would never build a setup where the blast is coming out still-under the rail.

It is very accurate. I really like the bull barrel platform. It is a 20 inch barrel and it stays put when bench shooting. I am getting an easy 1.5 inch group at 300y. which makes me happy as a newer shooter.

On your scoped rig. I have never seen the mounts in that arrangement. Does it effect eye relief any or why did you do it that way I guess is what I am asking. Your builds look great.

Edit: woops

The rear ring will not fit under the eyepiece of the scope. The eyepiece is too fat.  It does not affect eye relief as I would have mounted the scope in the same spot regardless of the mount. Thanks for the kind words as well.

Nice rifles. There is something about the look of some billet lowers and uppers I don't like, though...The waved mag well for instance just looks dumb to me.

The fact that it's a pistol, or the poking flash hider, or something else?

Your muzzle device. I don't like the look but that's my own personal issue. The fact that you like it is what matters.

Nice builds, man!  It may be my own perversity, but for some reason I really like Nos. 1 and 4 the most.

I didn't see any toes, though . . . .

I have fired all but the last one, tis just now done.

The Seekins build is incredibly accurate. I will bring targets back from the range the next time I go. What distance would you like to see that is sub 350y? (the range is only 350y)
