this is a reply to my inquiry to bushmaster, it is from erik winter at bushmaster-

Dear Sir,

The 26 inch barrels were discontinued many years ago. I’d say around 1999-2000.  The markings indicate that it is indeed Bushmaster manufacture. I-9 twist chrome lined barrel.  With the bayo lug I’m assuming it is also threaded with a flash suppressor.  I think it’s unusual to find an AR15 barrel now with an overall length of over 24 inches.

Man that is odd looking for sure. Most of the Bushy barrels are 1/9, I have only seen the 1/7 barrels for sale separately as a stand alone product. It tends to make me think that it's not factory built.......

Yea, back in the 90s they used to make them.  I had a flattop with the shaved front sight (V-Match) upper with one of these 26-inch barrels.  The barrel is really too long to be practical with the 223 round and sure you get a little more velocity with handloads but not enough to make the log barrel worth while.

The good news is you can cut it down

Also useful as a crutch if you're injured in the leg.

That sure looks odd. I wonder what it's like shooting off-hand

it shoots just like a 20 incher as the weight difference is about a half a pound. i use the lead insert in the butt stock to make it balance a little more. it is highly accurate, it is the same barrel that is on the varmint gun with 2 more inches but in a2 preban configuration.
