 not what you think...
There are many threads on various lubricants, greases etc for use in an AR. My question is has anyone considered prepping the AR with lubricants prior to it FIRST being used. Soak in CLP, Slip2000, whatever then clean, before it is ever even fired? If there is some “penetrant” capacity at all by some lubricants, would it nor make sense to do this BEFORE the rifle is ever even fired?? Thoughts? |

Before you fire any firearm for the first time, you should always take it apart, look it over, clean and lube it. Those that don't clean and lube it before taking to the range a lot of the time have failures in their firearm. The stuff they put in the firearm from the factory is ment to protect it and is not lube.

Cleaning & lubing is prepping it. That's all there is to it. There is no need to soak anything.

There is no "soaking in" of lubricants into metal, and even surface treatments like parkerizing that can hold lubricant just need it applied, there is no "soak time" required. Just clean off the preservatives that are commonly applied by the manufacturers and apply some reasonable lubricant and you're ready to shoot. |

As everyone else said, clean VERY well and lube before shooting. you dont want grease in ur gun(which is ussually what comes on it from the factory), it aint an m3.
Nothing soaks in, the rough surface of parkerizing will hold oils, but time does not affect how much sticks. |
