Hello,

This is my first post to this forum.  First, thanks to everyone.  There is a ton of helpful information here.

The lower receiver sale at Spike's Tactical got me to buy my first AR-15 lower.  It recently arrived and I began to inspect it.  Didn't expect to find anything out of the ordinary.  I noticed a mark on the right hand side, though, near the magazine well.

Can anyone tell me, is this abnormal?  Is it merely a cosmetic issue?

It is cosmetic.  Call Spike's and discuss it with them.  They have great customer service.

No that isn't normal, but it won't affect function.

If I paid $89 for that, I wouldn't care at all.

However if it bothers you, Spike's customer service is second to none.

Only one way to solve this, cut up with a saw!!!
J/K  I would keep it since it won't interfere with function, but if it bothers you, contact Spikes, they will make it right. They have great customer service

Call spikes, thats a pretty bad gash that obviously happened before anodizing. They should replace it and sell that one as a cosmetic blemish.

Wow, I just want to say I am amazed by Spike's customer service in this case. I've never bought any of Spike's products in the past, but I will gladly give them my business in the future.

Another big +1 for Spike's - I decided to take a drive (they are a couple of hours away) rather than transfer some lowers in. The gentleman I spoke with seemed a bit surprised that I made the trip but it was well worth it. I picked up a pair of lowers and one had a  TINY blemish on the finish - he swapped them both out without any grief at all so I could keep consecutive SN's (his suggestion). He was happy to do it - no grief, no looks, just great customer service. I went ahead and picked up some PMags while I was there just because...

I am kicking myself for not spending some more time and money while I was there (I should have asked about making a trip into the back room). Busy place but everyone was friendly and seemed to be enjoying themselves.

Sorry for the sidetrack but they will take care of you one way or another - they've earned my business as well!
