It should not move BUT I have had to use a little silicone caulk when installing a DD A2 Burnsed Loop. No movement since then.

I had the same problem. The stock was just a loose around the buffer tube they sent, and there was a little side-to-side play also. A little silicone caulk between the stock and the tube, as well as in the divot on the rear of the receiver where the tit on the stock fits, solved the problem. I shouldn't have had to do that, but after sending the first stock back because it arrived broken I just wanted to get the build done.
On a positive note, the added weight of the solid stock does help balance the rifle nicely. |

shouldn't move. i have one and the screw was a bitch to turn. it feels tightened all the way but isn't . i have a dd single point sling with mine which required me to use a longer buttstock screw. this screw needed to be tightened with an allen key which made it easier to apply more torque and prevented stripping

Mine was loose as well, i just shimmed it up w/electrical tape on the nipple, but on a side note for as much as these things cost you shouldn't have to.

The nipple on the front of the stock inserts into the backside indexing hole of the lower receiver, this keeps the stock from rotating. When we designed the stocks we measured the size of the indexing hole on 20 receivers from multiple manufacturers, and what we found is that the indexing hole is different on them all, so a decision was made to make the nipple to fit the smallest indexing hole. If there is some slight play you can add some type of silicone or other filler of your choice, we do this lots when using other stocks and sling mounting plates on custom builds all the time. We would rather have people add a filler versus file things down or have someone try and beat on a stock or receiver with a large hammer and damage things.

I have found the weight to be troublesome. I use lightweight barrels. I found it be a bit out of balance with a correct profile M4 barrel also. Hey Sully! Any chance of a lighter weight version for pencil barrel users? |

I'm considering trying a Sully Stock on my 20" flat top. Right now its sporting a M16A1 stock and its still too long for me.

The Sully Stock made of solid urethane which makes it tough, the entry stock is hollow. The solid urethane design allows you to drill and put in sling mounts at about any point desired if needed. The Sully Stock adds a little weight rearward on the rifle, which a makes the front end lighter as balance is key to a good handling rifle. I've had pretty good luck with whacking the fuck out of stuff with a big hammer. Maybe he meant use a small sledgehammer, not just a regular hammer?
I got to shoot a "Grail" that Sully brought to a class, it's was pretty neat.  Thanks Sully. |

Regarding weight on these stocks... I've seen some mention of weight, exactly how heavy ARE they? Say, in comparison to a standard A2 stock? I've been looking around for shorter fixed stocks and would like as many suggestions as I can get. I'm looking for something that feels like the second click on a collapsible... I've found the Sully, the short ACE, and apparently RRA makes a very short one? I remember handling the "entry" style that Bushmaster mounted up on the pencil barrel carbine they released more than a few years ago and found it TOO short, looking for something in the middle.
So, go with the Sully? Something else? Thanks guys. |

I put the Sully Stock on my Bushy M4 and really like it. Improvements were in shooting comfort, handling & balance. I brought it to our range and most of the other guys want to add it to their carbines. The small amount of extra weight is noticable at first, but after actually SHOOTING the rifle the balance improvement is obvious.
The rifle has a very solid feel to it with this stock. And my installation has no side play whatsoever. Someone mentioned the buffer screw was tight going in, that's correct, you really gotta keep tightening and then it finally sets. Greg |
