Archived [ARCHIVED THREAD] - A couple M&P ???

I had a question about the M&P15.  Do they use the M4 cut barrel extension and a regular upper, or is the S&W cut out in the receiver too?  I know a guy that just got one and the extension is M4 but the upper does not have the grooves.
