I have a DPMS Panther Low Profile 16" AR with the heavy bull barrel.  I LOVE this thing but it does put out quite the BOOOOOM when fired.

What if any options are there for noise reduction?

Thanks

Put an A2 or Vortex flash suppressor on it.

Thats why I say get better ear protection. Not much you can do with a bull barrel. I really was not trying to be a smart ass with my first post on this.

You could always send it to me and I can shoot it for you. I wont even charge you an ammunition fee and you wont hear a thing.

Quite a bit actually, they redirect the sound and disrupt the blast, not reduce it.  It does seem to eliminate the concussion generated by the massive fireball.

Quite a bit ghey on a bull barrel though.

You could always convert it to 22lr or buy a BB gun

Hehe....I already have a Savage 22lr that gives me the bb gun feel.

Don't get me wrong its not a problem, I'm not complaining....my friend actually nicknamed my AR "Thor's Hammer", I was just curious what could be done with a bull barrel.

he's talking about a suppressor. and the whole package will run you about $900-$1000 if you have it done right and buy a quality can.

don't forget to factor in the $200 tax permission from the government (king) to allow you to exercize your constitutional rights.

Oh I am just giving you hell, I understand about trying to get it quiet. I have an XM177E2 and that thing will bust your ears when you shoot it.

Thanks for the info.

Let's see........

total cost of sound reduction system = $1200.00

total cost of good earplugs = free from a mechanic at work

hmmmm....$1200 is ALOT of ammo.  I think I'll just deal with the noise.

Fire a .308 in 16" and you will no longer be bothered by your AR (assuming it is not a .308 DPMS).

At the range the other day and the guy next to me shooting a DSA FAL told me my 20" bull barrel was very loud.  My reply was ... WHAT?

My favorite was when I used to have the ol' "mini-y comp" muzzle brake. I would go to the range and it would literally almost blow the ball cap off the guys next to me.  That got on ppl's nerves real quick.
