I agree, there is just to much evidence to ignore.
1) Sombody in the military is buying pallets of 6.8 SPC from Remmington and Silver State. While not a service wide thing - even decent support from small groups helps ensure a continuation.
2) Every major reloading manufacturer makes a set of dies for loading the 6.8.
3) Besides the custom guys, there are several major AR manufactures that are or will be producing 6.8 SPC uppers & rifles (to include Bushmaster, Stag/CMT, and DPMS). When these guys get involved the cartridge has gone beyond 'novelty' IMHO. Remmington has even produced a Bolt gun in the caliber.
4) No less than 4 Domestic sources of manufactured ammo including two of the biggies (Remmington and Hornady). Availability of ammo (and brass) is a big indication of a calibers viability. It's even been seen at a couple of Wal-Marts by posters in the 6.8 FAQ.
