when zeroing at short range, which aperture do you use?
One is unmarked. the other has an "L" stamped under it. I'm guessing the unmarked one.

Use the smallest aperature, you will be more accurate. |

on an M16a1, they are the same size.

The "L" is for long range. Past 300 yards IIRC.
Apeture are the same size, just at different levels. |

Using the "L" marked aperture, and firing at 25 meters.
Adjust the sights until the point of impact is the same as the point of aim. Then flip the rear sight to the unmarked aperture. The rifle will then be battlesight zeroed for 250 meters, with M193 Ball ammo. ETA: The unmarked aperture is for targets from 0-300 meters. The "L" marked aperture is for targets from 300-400 meters. |

perhaps. But I'm NO fan of doing any type of BZO activity at 25 meters. Too much room for error in my sick little opinion. |

I like the A1 sight with an A2 aperture, then zero the small hole at 50yds. If I plan on shooting out past 300 yds, I'll use a different rifle, and and in the rare situation I might need to shoot out there, I would just use a slight Kentucky hold-over.

just BZO it then sight it in properly at 100 yards. That way you save ammo because you already are pretty much on target.
