So, normally I'm one of those anal Colt guys, but I wanted to do an AR I could just have fun with and add lots of bells and whistles.  Here is the result:  Noveske lower, CMT upper, Colt CH/FCG/bolt/M-16 carrier, RRA star selector, Mike Rock 7.5" barrel and block from Wes @ MSTN, Vortex FH, Knight's FF RAS (etc), Magpul MIAD, YHM single point sling attachment, Troy BUIS set, and the new Vltor numbered extension tube/kit (which very nicely holds a copy of my Form 1 in the battery compartment.  I have it folded into quarters and then tightly rolled.  I then used the plastic coils used to bundle wires in PCs to keep it tight.  the form drops right out and goes right in).

Nice!

That new Vltor extension is dope!

Great choice on the Vortex too.

Any thought to attaching the Krink brake?

Very nice, thanks for posting, you should go the AR photo thread and post these.

I had the KX3 on it initially, but I felt it added enough length to defeat the concept of what I was going for, and to be honest, I just liked the looks of the Vortex better on the gun.  If I had gotten one of the KFH that might have worked for me, but the KX3 was just lacking the same flair.  One other issue why I DXed the KX3 was because it was hard to torque down or remove because you can't access the flats in this configration and with the Vortex i can remove the FF RAS if I need too -- I liked the additional access.  With the KX3 it did sorta look like an SD though.

K1196A,

I know what you mean about the KX3 compared to the KFH.  I purchased a KFH for my 7.5" SBR about a month before John came out with the new style and I am glad I did.  The flutes or grooved bands or whatever you call the cuts around the main body, and the knurled end adds a little visual flare to the unit.  The new KX3 is just plain fugly.

Yes, although I really like the looks of it with just iron sights.  I have an Aimpoint with a LaRue mount for it, but I don't like that high profile.  I'll probably get an Eotech 551 for it.

That ROCKS!
I'm getting ready to fill out my form 1 as well.  How long did it take to get it back?

ATF received my Form 1 on 10 JAN 06, paperwork was back 14 MAR 06.  I called my examiner and told her I had a Form 4 approved in SEP 05 and she said she'd pull what she needed from that and that it would be done that day.  That was was 14 MAR 06.  She pleasantly suprised me.

Badass SBR man!!! Judging by that last pic, the rear BUIS looks canted to the left. Could just be an illusion though. If it is however, Troy is sending out the new style clamp.

What is your opinion of the KAC FF tube?  Details please, any negatives? Thanks!

edit: Also, accuracy of the Mike Rock 7.5?  How do you like it?

I like the Knight's FF RAS.  Only negative was the fact that the locking nut loosened up some after about only 130 rounds, but I probably should have gotten on it harder with the strap wrench instead of just muscling it by hand.

That little barrel is suprisingly accurate.  I mean, I only shoot this gun at 25m (at least so far), but it does group really well.

Also, the gun ran very well yesterday.  I fired 100 rounds from a Beta with zero malfunctions using XM193 ammo.  I also loaded one HK Gen II mag with SS109, but did get a malfunction with that, that I think was caused by a weak extraction that did not allow the fired round to be fully ejected before the bolt started forward again.  Not sure why -- I may need to put a heavier recoil buffer spring in too if I'm gonna use the SS109 in it.
