Thinking of going OD green on the can as well, but not sure.  Did some Photoshop to see how it would look. Opinions?

OK, that's 3 for 3 for the OD.  Anybody else?

p.s. In case you can't tell from the pic, the can covers the barrel, goes all the way to the receiver.

+1 for OD.  Why does the can look so big?  It looks like fills up the entire rail.

It does. The M169 is an integrally suppressed 9mm upper. The barrel is ported to slightly bleed off velocity, and the suppressor extends back over the ports.  It's from Lee Minor at LRM:

Thanks Rogue,  But it's not OD yet.....that's just what it WOULD look like.  My wife agrees with you and also threatens the use of the tack hammer.

Two questions:

What would you coat it with?

Is that a YHM handguard?

+1 for OD, it evens out the coloring nicely and makes for a more 'balanced' look.

I am going to use Colt Grey from now on. I prefer it to back. I would leave your can black.

The OD looks cool, but cans get very hot.  How does the Dura Coat hold up to the heat.

If the Dura-Coat will hold up to the heat and won't change colors, another thing you may want to consider is will the Dura-Coat be a mess when the can is hot.  Suppressors can take a long time to cool down, coating it could potentially make it a real pain in the @ss.

Just some food for thought

IMO, Go green. and Dura-coat offers a high-temp paint as well, if there is concern about baking it off.

DuraCoat website says it can withstand temperatures as high has 500-600 degrees F.  I'm not running F/A, but still not sure if the can gets that hot with lot's o semi shooting?

Hey Lee, You mention you did some in OD before? What do you use?  Thanks!

rsilver probably knows more about this than me and maybe he can chime in.  Gem-Tech states that for each round you fire it raises the temp of the suppressor 7.5 degrees.

You live in Flordia, so it's warm most of the year.  If the ambient temp outside is 90 degrees, you fire 30 rounds (each round raising the temp of the suppressor 7.5 degrees......30 rounds x 7.5 degrees = 225 degrees + ambient temp of 90 degrees = 315 degrees after just 30 rounds).  Easy to see that just a few mags through the suppressor can get it extreemly hot in a short period of time.

Just some food for thought

Good looking gun.

My 5.56mm can gets wicked hot. I'm not sure I would want to pain it or can?

I would think the 9mm wouldn't heat up nearly as fast as the 5.56mm but I could be wrong? Seems to me like my 9mm AR takes forever to get hot and cools relatively quick.

You need to test it now and give us some results!

Thanks JMHorse.  If I was running F/A I would be more concerned, but I think I'll be ok with semi.  Only one way to find out!  I'll update after some testing.
