When you mount a scope on a flat top dose the front sight get in way when you look throught the scope?

Only at about 2x and below. Anything above and you don't see it.

If you're woried about it, you can always get a flip up front sight/gas block.

actually with 3-4x you see a faint blur on the side of the sight picture but nothing major, any higher and the fsb is obsolete

You can always cut the fsb off the rifle, just above the gas tube area.  No need for a fsb if it is going to be a scope only rifle.

Not if it is magnified.
