I am not really familiar with Black Hills Blue Box ammo, but is it similar to this 55 grain Wolf ammo in any way?  I don't know, so I am just asking.

For military weight ammo, I know my gun's settings.  If the Blue Box is a lot heavier, that would change things a bunch.  Any input would be helpful/

Thanks.

It is Black Hills' remanufactured ammo.  We shot some at our last outing and liked it quite a bit.  It compared well with some of the some of the Q3131 we had and outclassed the UMC ammo we also shot that day.  Comparing the UMC and Black Hills I could have sworn the UMC was hand-loaded in someone's garage.  The Black hills looked factory fresh.

Blue box is just as good as M193 or Q3131A. Whoever is shooting blue box is missing out a great little shooters secret

Not shipped, I buy my ammo from a local friend who is also an FFL. I get blue box for $10.25 a box. Same stuff can be had at sportsmans warehouse for $10.99 a box.

Cuz good ole Federal 5.56 is harder than hell to find anymore, and is more expensive than the Wolf M193 if you do find it.  I agree, the price is pretty high but it is not out of line, and is likely to drop.  Every indication is that this is very good ammo, and the more alternatives on the market the better for us.  Q3131 is about the same price, and readily available, so I will likely continue to stock it but it is always nice to have a similar priced option, which will most likely become cheaper.

I havent seen any federal M193 in awhile either.  I refuse to shoot coated wolf or UMC which is how I found BH Blue Box. I also shoot M855 NATO headstamped ammo from Olympic, which I've had good results with, and that goes for $225 for 1000 on average.

My first choice would be Federal LC M193 though

You do realize that price is before shipping, and the shipping price is included in the Ammoman price.  Per the price list, that puts the Widener's XM193 at $250 shipped for 1000 (and very likely more for places farther away from Wideners) and the Wolf M193 at $239 shipped for 1000 to anyway in the lower 48.  What is so out of line about the Wolf price?  We are talking about brand new stuff here.  The prices for it are likely only going to go down as more places get it.  Like I said, as long as Q3131 is still available and the Wolf M193 is a similar price, I will continue to buy the Q3131 in large quantities and merely try the Wolf M193 out.  But if the Q3131 runs dry, the Wolf is looking to be a great alternative, that for sure isn't going to cost any more, and probably less.  The Radway Green you list is cheap everywhere, and can't really be grouped in with the quality M193.  It's in a category of its own.

ETA  And the XM193 isn't going to be around long if you have been reading some of the threads around here.  The military is phasing out the last of the old 1/12 twist rifles.  This is evident by the fact that two online retailers are carrying it, and the rest have been out for months.  The prices have significantly rose as well, above Q3131 prices.

Sorry folks, but it looks to me like the only "genuine" M193 available anymore is the new Wolf/Prvi Partisan. I say "genuine" since I have yet to try it, or see it chronoed here. But according to Prvi's website it is the real thing.

Right now there is NO IMI 223 left, NO Q3131A, and XM193 is almost dried up(not to mention this isnt front line ammo. So as of right now the only real M193 out there is this stuff. So if you consider the price is running about $10-20 more than the other M193 that WAS available, its not such a bad price IF this stuff is as good as its claimed to be. I cant wait to try it out. If it is as good I got no problem paying 230-240 a case.

I used to be an ammo snob, but after running 2k rounds of the polymer coated Wolf through my ARs I'm hooked now.  I wouldn't take it to class or use it to defend myself, but for gaming it works great.  I think that next order I'm going to try the 62 grain and see if it has a closer POI to the BH 75 grain SHTF ammo I keep.

As to the new M193 Wolf, if it comes down in price significantly I might look into it.  It would have to be below $200/1k shipped for me to consider it though.

I just got a case of 1,000 in for testing

It arrived in a heavy cardboard box.  Opening it up revealed 5 sealed battlepacks each containing ten 20 round boxes.  Boxes are labled

WOLF
Performance Ammunition
20 CARTRIDGES
5.56mm M193 Ball
55 Grain Full Metal Jacket

Ammunition is bright and shiny and dated 2005.  It has a crimped primer, sealant on the primer annulus and a cannelure on the projectile.  Looks good.  Factory fresh M193 ball, NOT factory seconds which failed to meet military spec....

we'll see how it shoots and what it chrono's at when we get the chance....

It's like I said about the "old" Wolf ammo, the only thing it has going for it is its cheap price.  This ain't cheap and I doubt you'll have all the same backers claiming how good this sh!t is.

Maybe it'll come cheaper after the initial rush to stock up on it.

Almost uninterestedly looking forward to the range report, but thanks for the effort.

None, and I don't plan to.  It is Wolf Russian made ammo, enough said.  Maybe it is in spec, maybe it isn't, but I'm not putting it through my M16 because it just isn't worth the risk.  I'd rather stick with a US manufacturer who will stand behind their product.

Prvi Partisan in Serbia makes it, not Wolf. They're as good a name as any of the major US names sold in Europe. They make excellent .303 and 7.5mm ammo according to the surplus collectors.
