I have an A2 upper and want to put optics on it.  Has anyone successfully mounted optics on two piece handguards?  I have had a few sets and all of them were rock solid, but I never put optics on them.  Will it hold zero?

Armalite ALOSTYR HG - held zero fine with my Aimpoint.  Biggest negative was the balance of the rifle was made even worse esp. with the 20" heavy barrel.

Short term?  Yes, they will hold a zero.  Long term with serious use, no, they will not.

If your only goal is to punch paper, I guess it isn't an issue.

ETA-  There are plenty of free float 2 piece units that will work fine, but the non-FF versions are what I meant.

It held 0 fine for me. I just punched paper with it.

Like Stickman said it will be fine for a range gun but if you are going to use it for more than that I would recommend either getting a gooseneck mount or even better switching out the A2 for an A3
